Sign-up for the 2011 iaedp Symposium the week of Valentine’s Day
and sweeten your chances to win a book by artist Fritz Liedtke

PHOENIX (Feburary 11, 2011) – Early registration has ended for the 2011 International Association of Eating Disorder Professional’s (iaedp’s) Annual Symposium, but that doesn’t mean it’s closed! Eating disorder professionals are encouraged to sign-up for the Symposium between February 12 and February 19 to be entered in a raffle for a chance to win a gorgeous coffee-table book by acclaimed artist and 2011 iaedp Symposium guest, Fritz Liedtke.
Two names will be randomly selected from two separate pools – one name from those who registered early and one name from those who register between February 12-19 – to win Fritz’s book about photography and the human form. All participants of the Symposium will have the opportunity to meet Fritz on Saturday, March 5 at the Red Carpet premiere of “America the Beautiful: Health for Sale,” where he will also be showing his photography exhibit, “Skeleton in the Closet.”
A recovering anorexic himself, Fritz is a Portland-based artist specializing in photography and portraiture. Many of his pieces focus on themes such as adolescence, eating disorders, surrealism, tourists, street photography, and mixed media.  Fritz’s latest exhibit, “Skeleton in the Closet,” takes a look at the secrets of anorexia and bulimia through a series of intimate portraits.  The clearest theme of the series also is the simplest, he says, the desire to be known and loved for who we are. “Many of the women and men in this series have looked this way before; some still do. They have, as it were, a skeleton in the closet,” he said.

iaedp Foundation Introduces New President at 2011 Symposium

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE –
iaedp Foundation Introduces New President at 2011 Symposium
Mary Bellofatto Leads Board of Directors into 2011 after 20 Years of Service

PEKIN, ILL. (Jan. 31, 2011) – The International Association of Eating Disorders Professionals (or iaedp) announced today they appointed Mary Bellofatto to president of the association’s board of directors. Bellofatto, an iaedp member for over 20 years, will take over for immediate past president, Adrienne Ressler, who held the position for two years and will continue serving as a board member. Bellofatto will answer questions for members at the 2011 iaedp Symposium, which will take place March 3-6 at the Pointe Hilton at Squaw Peak in Phoenix, Arizona.

“Having been a member of iaedp for over 20 years, I think I can safely say I like this organization,” said Bellofatto. “I am happy to begin leading an association that is first and foremost a wealth of training, information, friends, colleagues, and mentors, as well as opens up the possibilities for new relationships and continued growth in the field of eating disorders.”

“iaedp has grown and flourished in the last two years,” former president Ressler added. “We have experienced wonderful Symposiums in Long Beach and Orlando, set-up a list serve that provides information and resources as well as lively discussions, expanded the range and growth of our International Committee, and increased our membership. I’m excited to see what new energy and fresh ideas Mary will bring to the table.”

Mary Bellofatto, MA LMHC, CEDS, NCC, TEP served as clinical director for one of the first residential treatment centers for eating disorders in Naples, Florida. Presently, she owns and directs Mary Bellofatto Consulting, a training and consulting company that has worked with many of the national treatment centers on eating disorders and addictions. An award-winning speaker, a Toastmasters Bronze, a Who’s Who in U.S Executives, and a Lexington Who’s Who of Executives and Professionals, Bellofatto has been in the mental health field for over thirty five years, leading retreats, seminars, trainings, and program development in the eating disorder field nationally, and internationally.

iaedp  members will have access to Bellofatto during the 2011 iaedp Symposium, where she’ll be leading a special lunch program March 5 on “Psychodrama for Adolescents.” Joining Mary to demonstrate the use of drama, music and dance programming for adolescents is “The Atomik 12” under the creative direction of Heather Lloyd. Mary will also be available at the many networking events throughout the symposium, from the red carpet premiere of America the Beautiful: Health for Sale to the art exhibit with Fritz Liedtke and his Skeleton in the Closet photography series.
